Spin Up Your Starbound Server in Minutes Using AA Game Hosting
Creating custom Starbound mods with PenGUIn opens the door to shaping the game exactly the way you want, from tweaking gameplay mechanics to adding entirely new content. PenGUIn streamlines the modding process with an intuitive interface, making it easier for both beginners and experienced creators to build, edit, and package mods without digging through complex file structures. In this guide, you’ll learn how PenGUIn works, what you need to get started, and how to begin crafting your own custom Starbound modifications that bring your ideas to life.
Starbound Custom Modding Using PenGUIn
1. Download PenGUIn.
2. Navigate to your downloaded PenGUIn.exe file and move it into your Starbound directory, next to the starbound_server.exe you normally run.
To locate your starbound_server.exe file:
-
Right‑click Starbound in your Steam Library
-
Click Properties
-
Go to the LOCAL FILES tab
-
Select BROWSE LOCAL FILES… to open the Starbound directory
You now need to determine whether your operating system is 32‑bit or 64‑bit. You can check this quickly by pressing Win + Pause/Break, which opens your system details. Find the “System type” entry to see your OS version. After confirming it, move PenGUIn.exe into the appropriate folder (win32 or win64).
3. Create a desktop shortcut for PenGUIn.exe, then run the program.
4. From here, things are fairly self‑explanatory. When you open PenGUIn, the Start, Restart, and Stop controls are in the bottom‑left corner. The application provides a wide range of server information in one place, so explore it at your leisure.
MODS: You can install mods just like with the other methods, but Method 3 is the simplest route and will save you time.
